If you have visited the Center lately you will have noticed the barricades, hard-hatted workmen, heavy equipment and noisy disruptions in front and in the rear of our old building. Just to let you know, in front of the building we are restoring the deteriorating pit area and replacing aging windows and window guards thanks to a generous grant from Hudson County's CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) Program.
On the Magnolia Avenue side in the rear of the building, heavy duty cranes are demolishing the old St. Joseph's School for the Blind facility, an 80-year old building that has been vacant for the past three years. The site, owned by the Center, will eventually be transformed into a private garden for the benefit of our residents and their families. Although definitive plans are not yet in place, watch this space for further updates.
